Captar-Libras is a research and development project that aimed at facilitating communication between healthcare professionals and deaf pacients without the need for a human interpreter. To achieve this, techniques from Computer Vision, AI and Human-Computer Interaction are applied to develop a system capable of translating communication in both directions, with a focus on Brazilian Sign Language (Libras).
This project was carried out during the year 2022, and consisted of helping students and teachers of "Colégio Técnico da UFMG", in technical education courses of Systems Development, Industrial Automation and Electronics.
This technical course aims to train professionals qualified to work both as an autonomous developer as well as project manager, by learning different programming languages with specific paradigms, in addition to learning design patterns.
The project presented at the end of the technical course was an automatic feeder for domestic animals using an Arduino microprocessor connected to a mobile application on an Android system through a wifi connection, using Internet of Things (IoT) concepts.
